Lithostratigraphy of a long, fossiliferous Oligocene sequence: Revisiting Saint Jacques, Nei Mongol, China

چکیده

For a hundred years the Saint Jacques area has been known to produce rich Oligocene vertebrate fossils, yet only handful of previous studies have focused on this area. Since 2010, we conducted 12 field expeditions Jacques, and here report findings from our paleontological excavations stratigraphical investigations. Twenty-two fossiliferous blocks across are recognized chronostratigraphic framework established aid fossil collection. Fossil-mammal materials recovered in situ 1635 localities additionally surface sediments. Fossiliferous correlated by lithological similarity lateral tracing. Lithologically, is mainly composed reddish silty mudstone muddy siltstone, with three distinctive layers grayish white sandstone. The measured composite stratigraphic column spans 239 meters divided into lithostratigraphic units. Contrary knowledge that contains two mammalian assemblages, preliminary biostratigraphic analysis small mammals shows documents successive faunal transition Eocene possibly early Miocene. hyracodontid perissodactyl Ardynia , ctenodactyloid rodent Gobiomys basal Glires Gomphos bottom litho-units imply presence Eocene–Oligocene boundary, while mammal assemblage top units similar Miocene faunas northern China Mongolia. Thus, rock strata likely span through Miocene, bracketing an entire sequence within. In sum, re-exploration greatly expanded taxonomic coverage collection This long, makes important record for studying Transition. Further study will contribute range paleoenvironmental questions.

New Cricetid Rodents from Strata near the Eocene-Oligocene Boundary in Erden Obo Section (Nei Mongol, China)

New cricetids (Eucricetodon wangae sp. nov., Eucricetodon sp. and Pappocricetodon siziwangqiensis sp. nov.) are reported from the lower and middle parts of the "Upper Red" beds of the Erden Obo section in Nei Mongol, China. Eucricetodon wangae is more primitive than other known species of the genus from lower Oligocene of Asia and Europe in having a single anterocone on M1, a single connection ...

Erlianomys Combinatus, a Primitive Myodont Rodent from the Eocene Arshanto Formation, Nuhetingboerhe, Nei Mongol, China

摇 A new myodont rodent is reported from the lower part of the Arshanto Formation in Nuhe鄄 tingboerhe of Nei Mongol, which represents one of the earliest and most primitive myodont rodents in Asia. The new species is characterized by several primitive features, such as M1 and M2 subequal in size, anterior cingulum( id) pronounced and having weak or no connection with the protocone and protoconid...

The first dromaeosaurid (Dinosauria: Theropoda) from the Lower Cretaceous Bayan Gobi Formation of Nei Mongol, China

The first dromaeosaurid theropod from the Lower Cretaceous Bayan Gobi Formation is identified based on an incompletely preserved partially-articulated left leg, increasing the known diversity of its understudied ecosystem. The leg belongs to specimen IVPP V22530 and includes a typical deinonychosaurian pedal phalanx II-2 with a distinct constriction between the enlarged proximal end and the dis...

Gomphos elkema (Glires, Mammalia) from the Erlian Basin: Evidence for the Early Tertiary Bumbanian Land Mammal Age in Nei-Mongol, China

Dental and postcranial specimens of Gomphos elkema, including lower and upper dentition and pedal elements, from the Huheboerhe locality, Erlian Basin, Nei-Mongol (Inner Mongolia), are described. Postcranial elements of Gomphos are similar to those of Mimolagus, suggesting affinity with lagomorphs. Gomphos elkema is a typical Bumbanian taxon, previously known only from Mongolia. Gomphos elkema ...

Revisiting the Sequence Constraint

Many combinatorial problems, such as car sequencing and rostering, feature sequence constraints, restricting the number of occurrences of certain values in every subsequence of a given width. To date, none of the filtering algorithms proposed guaranteed domain consistency. In this paper, we present three filtering algorithms for the sequence constraint, with complementary strengths. One borrows...
